The Aimless Writer

I am at a lost for words to pour.  My mind wanders aimlessly at what I am going to write about.  There are many things I'd like to say but my brain seemed lost.  Help! I am adrift...

Don't Worry, Be Happy Now

Songwriter and blues singer Bobby McFerrin couldn't be wrong when one of the lines of his song, he said, " In everyday life we have trouble, don't worry, be happy...".  Many people nowadays worry over many things.  They worry about their age, their work, their relationships, their being themselves, their home and family, and all things that they can worry about.

The fast changing world hurdles too many challenges and trials that most people tend to be stressed out in their everyday life situations, depressed with inability to cope up sometimes with these changes.  We know that not all problems have simple answers or solutions.  It's striking to know how much worrying and unhappiness can cause people to be anxious and concerned about daily life.  Life throws worries at us in all directions, that's for sure.  We cannot change that.

According to John Edmund Haggai, author of the best selling book "How To Win Over Worry" (2001), worrying can cause people to be unstable in many ways.  Haggai pointed out the following as the effect of worrying in a person's life:

  1. It divides our FEELINGS.
  2. It divides our UNDERSTANDING.
  3. It divides our PERCEPTION.
  4. It cause inability to MAKE DECISIONS.
  5. It prevents us to PURSUE OUR GOALS WITH DETERMINATION.
Worrying divides our feelings in such a way that it can cause our emotions to become uneven and volatile. When we worry we tend to disrupt our heart with good things and change it to a feeling of anxiety, being nervous, frightened, restless and fearful.  Much more it can cause unhappiness, thus, it makes us unable to feel right.

Our understanding is affected when we worry about anything.  It disturbs your peace of mind, making it harder to concentrate on anything that you have in your mind.  Worrying distracts our capacity to comprehend situations, circumstances, etc.  It makes our mind distorted because we are unable to decipher clearly.

When we worry, our insights are also affected. It turns away our focus on the things we need to discern.  It makes us unable to be sensitive with what is happening around us.  It hampers our ability to interpret situations.  Thus, we end up with a snapped mindset.

Decisions suffer when we worry about everything. When worrying sets in,our ability to solve problems and decide on matters are hampered since our way of thinking is disrupted.

Lastly, worrying prevents us from pursuing or achieving our goals because one is convinced that what one would like in the future may not come out as expected.

Restoring Friendship

Every friendship is an investment. There’s a lot of connecting done, bonding, sharing of common interests, secrets, etc. But when things go wrong between us and our friends, it is sad to note that all the things solidly put in will just fall into places. Well, the cliche “some good things last” ring true. Sad, isn’t it? But it’s true. Things like this happens. You’ve made an effort to go through the process of making friends, then when due to some reason un-avoided (often times, over petty things), friendship reach a dead end. The result: tension, wounded pride, etc. Is there a way for which reconnection can be done? Of course, there is. It would be a long process. Shake off the incident, bounce back, but yes, the key here is to FORGIVE, until we find our selves trusting one another again. Let’s value relationships, especially with our friends. No man is an island, remember? We are all connected like the island in the seas and oceans. Someday somehow, even when we wander, we still hit the shore.
